Ezycontent
Content Management System
Ezycontent is the content management system within Ezyzine. It allows users to create content, have that content screened through a formal workflow process and finally approved for public display and possible print publication.
Every individual using Ezycontent will have differing levels of functionality depending on their role.
Non-registered User
A non registered user is restricted to the level of interaction they have with the content / community. They can:
- Browse content (most recent / most popular displayed first)
- Search content (by title, content, author, location)
Registered User
A registered user has increased usage rights to the system. A registered user can:
- Rate an article — this affects an article weighting. A higher rating increases the article ranking
- Reply to an article (articles go into a manual approval queue maintaining integrity of content)
- Report abuse — flag inappropriate content
- Add thread to "watch" list (automatically get visibility into threads of interest)
- Submit Content (Title, Section, Location, Tag, Add Images, Article)
- Create and edit "My Profile" — profile of author
Sub-Editor
A Sub-Editor is a "super user". They have been a content contributor for an extended period of time and have strongly supported the community created content philosophy. A Sub-Editor is appointed by the publisher, and can:
- Review and approve Articles
- Edit Articles
- Recommend review of Articles
- Recommend deletion of Articles
- Review and approve Images
- Recommend review of Images
- Recommend deletion of Images
Note: all content recommended for review or deletion by a Sub-Editor is moved to a "holding bay" where final power of veto lies with the Editor.
As this system scales there will be a large requirement for Sub-editors.
This gatekeeper will ensure the integrity of the content (text and images). The Sub-Editor will also sub-edit articles so that they are in a format ready for use in the print editions. An additional responsibility is to ensure the articles are tagged correctly (location and subject area) ensuring searches return relevant content.
Editor / Administrator
An Administrator is responsible for the creation of user accounts and access rights at a local level.
Each publisher using Ezyzine will nominate an Administrator (usually the owner or general manager of the publication). The Administrator will create a number of Editor positions both within the publisher and in the external community of contributors. Only the Administrator can create accounts with Editor rights.
Super Administrator
This position is controlled by Wordzine. When a new publisher starts using Ezyzine they will have one Administrator account created. The Super Administrator can create, edit, add, delete or disable any account across the whole system.
Proprietor / General Manager
The owner of a community newspaper uses Ezyzine for its high quality, current, royalty free content. All articles are non-copyright, there are no payments to authors and the images that go with the articles are royalty free too. This free local content allows the owner to significantly reduce costs.
They also use Ezyzine for their online web presence.
Gone are the days of having a static, out of date site with little dynamism. By setting preferences to display all locally tagged content first the site will always seem current and relevant. The site allows the owner to build a strong relationship with its audience providing them with a tailor made system for content submission and approval. In addition, only the most popular and proven content (based on the website stats) will make it to print, ensuring higher quality, valuable reading material.
